Lip and Dermal Fillers
Most temporary tissue fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a substance present in all living organisms. Hyaluronic acid has the important ability to attract and bind to water molecules to help maintain tissue volume. Hyaluronic acid is one of very few substances identical in all species and tissue types. The injectable tissue fillers are medically approved sterile gels consisting of non-animal cross-linked hyaluronic acid for injection into the skin to correct facial lines, wrinkles, folds, lip enhancement and for shaping facial contours.
How do they work?
Hyaluronic Acid tissue fillers act by adding volume to tissue, thereby shaping the contours of the face, correcting folds or enhancing the lips to the desired level of correction. The results are long lasting though not permanent and the procedure can be repeated as often as you like. You are always in charge of your appearance.
Radiesse Treatments
Radiesse is very long lasting and is extremely good for volumizing the lower face as well as for rejuvenating the hands. Because of its longevity, it is becoming a popular tissue filler. It is similar in many ways to the Juvederm / Restylane family of soft tissue fillers. Other uses include:
- nasolabial folds
- marionette lines
- cheek augmentation
- chin augmentation
- jaw line contouring
- mental crease augmentation (chin groove)
- nasal defects
- and hands
It is very useful for reflating and reshaping parts of the body affected by aging.
How It Works
Radiesse is a safe, FDA-approved, long lasting, but not permanent filler that is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite beads suspended in carboxymethylcellulose gel. These tiny calcium microspheres form a scaffold to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen. Over time, the calcium-based microspheres gradually break down and are safely and naturally absorbed by the body. We find it to be very useful in individuals who have a very high metabolic rate and who seem to have difficulty keeping less sturdy fillers in their faces over a desired period of time. Recovery and Results: Radiesse can last up to a year, but typically it lasts anywhere from 8-10 months
Are permanent tissue fillers used at the Dermatology Rejuvenation Center?
At the present time permanent tissue fillers are rarely used in our facility. The exception is Artesense which are used in special cases of deep acne scars. 80% of the North American dermal filler market generally focuses on the Hyaluronic acid temporary tissue fillers. Permanent tissue fillers are more likely to cause side effects and offer less flexibility when it comes to results. The temporary tissue fillers we use are Restylane, Juvederm (Voluma) and Teosyal.
The Juvederm family of tissue fillers includes Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra XC and Juvederm Voluma. The Restylane family of tissue fillers inlcudes Restylane, Perlane, and Restylane Fine Lines.
Lip augmentation or Lip enhancement
Lip augmentation or Lip enhancement using an injectable hyaluronic acid temporary tissue filler offers a minimally invasive way to enhance your lips. Get natural looking, full, balanced lips without surgery and the downtime. Lip augmentation or enhancement treatments are used to restore lost volume, achieve an improved aesthetic balance between your lips, and achieve a more sensuous look. Knowledge of the ideal ratio of the upper to lower lip based on age, gender, and ethnic background is required to provide natural-looking results. Knowing the right amount of volume to add to each lip are just some of the factors Dr. Babin-Muise and Dr. Bosworth have studied to ensure an optimal result.
How long is a treatment?
A treatment usually takes about fifteen to thirty minutes.
How does it feel? Treatment is relatively pain-free. Topical freezing cream minimizes the discomfort. There is also some anesthetic in the filler itself. There may be some temporary soreness or swelling following treatment.
How much does a lip augmentation treatment cost?
Depending on the individual and amount of volume injected, treatment with fillers can varies anywhere from approximately $400 -$700 plus taxes.
How soon can I see results? Treatment results can be noticed immediately and generally last between 6-12 months. Duration of effect varies from patient to patient.
How do I get started? Book a consultation with us. A consultation fee of $100 is applicable, however and will be subtracted from your treatment.
